The Little Gentleman

Hello everyone! Remember us? The boys and I just wanted to say a quick hello and catch things up a bit. We have had visitors galore this summer and the cats and I couldn't be happier. My college friend Lindsay came up from North Carolina last week and Albert and Elvis absolutely loved it. Elvis in particular was completely smitten. Out of nowhere he became the most vocal cat known to man. "Meow" this and "Meow" that. Such a chatterbox. I'm not sure if it was because he adored Lindsay or if it was because she introduced him to his new BFF for life, smoked salmon. I wish you all could have seen the expression on this cat's face when he had his first bite. Comical I tell you. It's no wonder he followed her around like a little puppy for the rest of her stay.
As Lindsay left yesterday, Elvis cried for her at the door. It was very sad/sweet so when I got home I gave him the bit of salmon she had left just for him.
Things are slowly getting back to normal. For a little bit at least. Another friend is coming up from Texas next week and 4th of july is this weekend, so I will get as much posting done as possible. I have tons of new pictures so stay tuned!
p.s: I can hardly believe it myself, but Albert HATES salmon. I mean really? This cat tries to eat everything from tofu to ice cream. What a strange bird.

Bath Time! Sort of....

Where do your kitties like to play?

Elvis must think he's part zebra because he hides here as if no one can see him. Too cute.

Always ready to attack!

If only they knew their "play pen" existed specifically for, *gasp* getting wet.

Busy Summer Days

Sorry for the long time no post. I have two sets of out-of-state guests coming in the next three weeks and a wedding. There's lots of prepping going on and generally, during downtime, the boys are glued to my side, and lap, and I don't have the heart to get up and get the camera and disturb them. Luckily, I managed to snap a few pics this weekend and I plan on spreading them out over the next week until things quiet down. So, as promised last week, here are my beloved pics of Albert cooling his heiny in front of the Wind Machine 3500. Enjoy!!

The Mighty Hunter: Tale of the White Rat

Albert: Oh you silly rat, you. You have found your way into my kingdom and now you must die!

I will show you no mercy, you flea infested, furry rodent.

All attempts at escape are in vain.

You think I do not see you hiding under this table?

Victory will be mine...

Prepare to die!

And with the white rats torturous death, the kingdom was safe once again.
P.S. Zoom in on the last pic for some fierce nose licking on Albert's part.

Question and Answer Time

Question: It's getting really hot and I have no ac and the boys are super furry and it just seems like a recipe for disaster. Remember, I live on the top(3rd) floor of an ancient building and heat rises. Other than fans, does anyone have any stay cool summer tips for cats that they would like to share?
I keep a towel in the freezer and periodically take it out and let one or both of the kitties lay on it.
I also put ice cubes in their water.
I have fans strategically placed all over the apartment but the cats, mainly Elvis, are intimidated by the noise. It creates somewhat of a breeze, but a warm one if you know what I mean.
I keep the windows cracked when I am gone and wide open when I am home.
Shades always down.
I am just wondering what my options are. I might just break down and get a window unit ac or, and no one yell at me(too loudly), see if they are candidates for a haircut. Has any one out there ever had their pet shaved. Albert's fur is so dense, and his ears and nose get so warm, I just start to worry about him. So, to shave or not to shave, ac unit or no. Any tips, suggestions, or "OMG never shave your cats,"all advice will be welcome. The phone lines are officially open.

P.S. Although it has been in the upper 80's and 90's the past couple of days, that is not the norm for this time of year. I woke up today and and the high was supposed to be 74. I'm probably being overcautious, but whatever. Better safe than sorry. Besides, how cute would Albert look with the "lion" cut? Just kidding. Sort of.

Albert vs. The Toilet Paper

I was sitting in the dining room all quiet like on Tuesday when I heard Albert dragging something out of the bathroom. Thinking he had knocked over the little garbage can again I got up to investigate.

Suprise! Little Albert had dragged the new pack of toilet paper from under the sink and was steadily making his way into the living room. I assumed that's where the fearsome attack was to take place.

Not one to share his spoils, Albert made quick work of shooing Elvis away and settled in for the long paper eating haul.

I tried to put the camera down and act like a real cat mom. Honest. It's just, after he made this face, I was laughing so hard. I figured this photo in particular would make up for the swiss cheese like toilet paper I would be using for the next few weeks.

I guess he showed that roll who's boss.

Look at his mandibles of death. If he were a boa constrictor I am pretty sure that four pack of TP would be residing in his intestines instead of locked in the hall closet.
