Hey Everyone! Long time no write. It's been a busy time for us...getting Elvis better and completely off Prednisone(which he is), taking vacations, enjoying the limited sunshine and preparing for summer. Both Albert and Elvis are doing great!

Albert has matured into quite the cuddlebug. Seriously, I don't know that there is a sweeter cat in all the world. He loves attention and especially talking. He and Elvis have long conversations and generally from different rooms. He isn't aggressive anymore and instead of fighting with El, they have grand races around house...They seem to be enjoying each other as playmates more and more. Such young men.

And Elvis...Elvis is a little miracle baby. The doctors still aren't sure what was wrong with him. All they know is that he is 100% better
now and has been off of his medicine for 1 entire month. Elvis is also a snuggle-bunny. Just as sweet as Albert but a tad more shy. I'm not sure what we would have done if we had lost him as he is very much an integral part of this trio.

Anyhow, just wanted to pop in a say hi and that the boys are just fine and I hope everyone is enjoying the spring weather! It's still spring, right?

We live at the top of a hill that is routinely shut down and blocked off whenever it snows. I love it because I get to play hooky from work; the boys love it because without fail, some intrepid driver tries to drive up and around the street closures. This leads to engine gunning, tire rolling and ultimately one car sliding backwards down the street into any number of parked vehicles. I imagine Albert and Elvis shake their heads, sit back and share a laugh at the insanity on the street below.
And yes...I've slid backwards a time or two as well. I just hope these two furr-brains weren't watching.

As soon as I walk in the door I set my keys and purse on the table and toss my sweater/knit outerwear onto the big pink chair in the living room. 5 seconds later Elvis is in the chair snuggeling into the leftover warmth. It's become part of our winter routine and is totally adorable and heart-warming all at the same time.

My birthday is right around the corner and I wanted to let you guys in on a little secret...I don't just celebrate the day, I celebrate the entire month. I have parties and dinners to attend, karaoke to sing and Thanksgiving meals to prepare. I'm just plain ol' busy up until December 1st. All this is to say, don't let the sound of crickets chirping everytime you come to the boys site scare you away. The hiatus is only temporary. The boys are doing great, active and ridiculous as ever. We've had some silly firsts at the Livermore-Knight household and I can't wait to share...I have a little contest planned and I'll try to squeeze it in next week. Until then, have a wonderful week and enjoy the fabulous November weather!

Hey guys and gals, Albert here! Just wanted to let you know that the vet said my attention hog brother is going to be just fine. His test results were excellent...he always was the teacher's pet. He is down to one pill a day for three weeks then down to one pill every other day for three weeks after that and then done to none! This is good news for him but bad news for me...sympathy please? Every time Mom gave Elvis a pill she gave him treats afterwards and then gave me some too so I didn't feel left out. Ahh, the good ole days.
Anywho, now that Elvis is better it's back to your regularly scheduled programming...ME! Try to contain your excitement.
P.S. I'm really glad Elvis is ok. It would be no fun at all with out him. But you didn't hear that from me!

Elvis finished his last round of steroids this morning. We have an appointment at the end of the week to see if he will need more or if we are in the clear. Something tells me we are good to go. His energy is at 120% and he and his brother are playing together instead of fighting. If you look at his right(our our left) paw, you can see where the hair is finally starting to grow back from his blood transfusion. It's ALMOST like he was never ill in the first place.
Right now I'd like to put a little gratitude out into the Universe...Thank You for our continued health, happiness and everything else we are blessed with on a daily basis.

It's become a morning ritual for Albert and Elvis to wake me up well before my alarm goes off. You know, because they're STARVING. These two have it down to a science... from the kneading and the head swatting to the constant mewing. Albert is probably the worst. He's puts his wet nose right on my eyelid until I can't take it anymore. I squint into the darkness ready to shoo his furry butt away, but it's too late. He knows I'm up and the meowing turns to howling and the kneading turns to frantic prancing. "Okay," I think. Just get up, feed them and go back to bed. So I do. At 4:30 every morning, I stumble in the dark to the food bowl, trying not to crush Albert as he runs back and forth between my feet. Elvis, never really that hungry in the first place, has curled into the warm spot on the pillow where my head previously rested.

I'm such a sucker.

Edited to add: I just realized that I drew this entire picture with my right hand. I'm left-handed. Can you imagine? I spend so much time on my computer that I don't even know which hand I write with anymore... What does that say about me? Jeeze.

Do you see this face? This disgruntled, put out little face. I just don't get it. Albert really is just the sweetest thing and in person has the most precious pout. Why can't he smile? Is this his "Blue Steel?" Lord knows he's been making this face since I started taking his picture. Is it me? Does my dear sweetie-puss...dare I say it...hate me? Well guys and gals, I did some digging and take a gander at this little gem from Al's IBKC days. Is that the beginning of a baby snarl? Guess he was just born that way! Though I wouldn't mind more photographs like this.

Two Pills Are Better Than Four

Elvis Update: Had a check up with the vet on Saturday and Elvis is now 100% better. Can I say that again? 100% BETTER! He is officially off of his antibiotic and instead of 4 Prednisone pills a day, he is down to 2. Obviously I see him doing better every day, but to hear the vet say so is just super. There is still no real diagnosis other than he had some weird auto-immune spell. Hopefully we can wean him off of the steriods and he will be ok. If not, well now I know the signs and I can prevent him from getting to such a drastic place.

The boys and I spent the weekend getting ready for Halloween. That was fun. Expect to see Albert in his finest attire/costumery(Elvis gets a pass this year ;)) and an awesome flashback to their IBKC days. I love this time of year and I'm glad I have these two little furballs to share it with. And you guys too!

Hey Everyone,
Sorry about the non-posting. Things have gotten a little nutty lately and I can never seem to catch up. The one positive note in all of this is that Elvis is doing SOOOO much better. The meds have been doing what I pay them to do which is make Little El normal again. To recap, when I took him to the vet, his white blood count(?) was at 7%(scary low), after blood transfusion - 16%, 1 week later -19% and as of Saturday - 30%. That's huge guys! I think normal is 34-36%. The vet also says his bone marrow continues to do well(all of your prayers worked!). The only spot of bad news is that the cause of all of these problems is some immune system disease which likely means Elvis will be on Prednisone for the rest of his life. I guess long term steroid use can shorten the kitty life-span, though I'm not really focusing on that because, Hallelujah, Elvis has a life-span!
He is currently eating me out of house and home which is fine...he looks so healthy I have no complaints. Albert is a sweetheart and gets many hugs for alerting me to the fact that his bubby was sick. Though, if there is a next time, maybe he can whisper it in my ear instead pouncing on his ailing bro.
I am so happy we are at the point we are at..back to a somewhat normal home life. The past few weeks have been horrible, as anyone with a sick pet knows...even though you pray for the best, something inside always prepares for the worst. Sitting in the living room and trying to picture a day without both Albert and Elvis, well... it just wouldn't be home.
I promise to post pictures of my two little fighters just as soon as I can. Thank you once more for all of the sincere well wishes and prayers. It's meant everything to me.

Some of you wanted to know how Albert was treating Elvis since returning from the hospital. For the first couple of days he followed Elvis EVERYWHERE. It annoyed Elvis but seemed more protective than mean on Al's part. As I watch them now, I realize that Albert isn't so much pouncing as trying to be close to his brother. They both like to sleep in the same chair and Albert will jump up trying to squish his way next to Elvis. Elvis, instead of putting up with Albert's butt in his face, hops down. That seems to be the extent of their discontent. Don't get me wrong, Albert still acts out now and again, but for the most part, when Elvis needs to rest, Al lets him. It's actually pretty peaceful around here. Fingers, toes and paws crossed, it stays that way.

So, just wanted to give a quick update on Elvis. He's making progress, albeit a little slowly. Vet appointment on Saturday let us know that his blood content(?) was down from 19% to 12% which is not good but that it wasn't 7% which is what we started at. The vet wasn't sure if the bone marrow was generating new cells so she sent off for another test, the results which we got back today. It looks like the bone marrow is regenerating cells(YAY!) but only a small amount. Frankly, I'll take what I can get. If it hadn't shown any improvement...well, let's just say that's the worst that could have happened. This small amount of cell generation lets the vet know that his bone marrow WANTS to work, which is pretty much the highlight of my week. She is going to up his steroid dosage and put him on more antibiotics and give him an iron supplement as well(he's been licking a rock). We will have a return vet visit in 10 days and hopefully see a more pronounced improvement. Though I'm not sure what the future holds, I'm counting today as a victory for Team Elvis. Thank you again for all of the well wishes and prayers.

Good News..

Elvis is home!!! He has been reacting positively to the blood transfusion and the doctor said he was good to come home. Elvis is one happy cat right now. He is on prednisone and an antibiotic. The doc still isn't sure what the problem is so we are going back next Saturday for more tests. He said the thing we want most is for the bone marrow to start doing it's job so that's what I will pray for. The waiting is hard, but for now, i am just so happy that Elvis is feeling better and eating...and HOME! Thank you all. I can't tell you how much it means to have a whole wide cat community to lean on for support. The boys and I appreciate it so much! More updates as they come.

Thank you everyone for the kind words and prayers. The blood transfusion went well, he's up from 7% to 16%(blood count?). The problem is his bone marrow. It's not producing the things it's supposed to so they have him on steroids and will test tomorrow to see if it improves. If it doesn't then the prognosis isn't good but I won't even go there until i have too. I visited with him today and he looks so much better and wanted cuddles and was purring and making biscuits..If it weren't for the neon green bandage on his arm you wouldn't even know he was sick. I think that's the hardest part, he looks and acts like my little Elvis...
Anyways, I saw him and brought him a pillowcase from the bed and he ate a little and purred and i was totaly being a trooper for him until I heard that Sarah Mclaughlin song from the abused pets commercial and I totally lost it and started bawling. I think I scared the vet tech a little and Elvis was just staring at me like i was loco and then i started laughing and crying and that's about how my days been. Good and bad with a touch of the hysterical.
Tomorrows is the retest so i'm going to pray for a responsive bone marrow and a healthy Elvis.
Thank you all again for the shoulder to lean on. Albert, Elvis and I appreciate it.

Hey Everyone,

This won't be long and I hope to post updates later, but little Elvis is very sick and in the hospital. I noticed he wasn't acting right last night and made an appointment for Friday morning. I got home today and knew I couldn't wait. According to the doctor Elvis is very anemic and is getting a blood transfusion and oxygen as we speak. I should know more tomorrow morning and the nurses said I could visit Elvis after work. Please send your love to him and pray for the best. Typing this is making me cry, so I'm going to feed Albert and make sure he's doing ok while his brother is getting better. I'm kinda at a loss for words right now, but I know you guys will understand.

Maybe it's because he is the smaller of the two or maybe he just has the more dominant personality, whatever the reason, Albert is being a huge pain in the butt. Don't get me wrong, with me he is still cuddle puffs and sweetness, but poor Elvis just can't catch a break. Wherever Elvis is, Al is 3 steps behind and probably mid-pounce. If Elvis jumps on the chair to sleep, Albert jumps on top of Elvis. Elvis gets down...Albert sits for two seconds and then he gets down too. THIS HAPPENS ALL DAY LONG. Really. ALL DAY!
Plus, Albert is kinda rough. He bites, scratches and pounces and the result is a scabby chin or bloody ear for El. If Elvis fought back maybe I wouldn't be so concerned, but Elvis isn't a fighter...period.
Which isn't to say they don't sometimes get along. I woke up this morning and Albert was giving Elvis a bath.
So, my question is, do I keep stepping in or do I butt out? I hate that Elvis hides in a cubby on the bookshelf, but I also hate constantly shoo-ing Albert away from his brother.
Why can't they both just get along?! Is this just the way of things? Am I interfering in the natural process of the Animal Kingdom? Do you guys have any guidance or suggestions? I keep hoping this is a phase..what do you think?

It's been a busy summer, but a fun one. Hope you guys are thriving as well.
The boys are doing ok, the weather's nice, things are rolling along.
The only not so bright spot of the summer is that Albert and Elvis are going through puberty and it's hard to watch sometimes. Albert is definitely winning the "Alpha Male" contest, but more on that tomorrow.
We almost adopted another little kitten, (Ve Ching, anyone), but she was snapped up because we, me, I took too long thinking about it. I'm thinking it worked out for the best, though, because another family now has a wonderful new addition. But like I told Laurie, the seed has been planted. I think a sibling might be good for the boys, plus, can you ever really have too many cats? Don't answer that!

It's done, it's done. Amazingly talented portrait artist, Rachael Rossman, emailed me today to tell me that the Elvis watercolor painting was done. If you'll remember, a couple of weeks ago we were a finalist in a cat photo competition over at Ree Drummond's Pioneer Woman website. As luck would have it, the runners-up received custom portraits of their pets. I can't tell you how anxious I have been to get a look at ours. I mean, feast your eyes on this! It's just amazing. I wanted to relate a quick story about a new reflector I was trying out and how cute the kitties were when they saw it, but now I am going to have to spend the rest of the night figuring out what the heck these blog people did to my poor little blog. Everything is wonky and I have no idea how to post the way I want to. All of the settings are off and the pictures...ugh, don't even get me started on the pictures. I have a really awesome treat for everyone(I taught Elvis to give hugs), so hopefully I can figure all this out by tomorrow so I can post a video. Until then..

I have an elliptical in my living room. Albert is enthralled. When I first started using it Al would sit and stare, lost, I thought, in the rhythm of the machine. Now I know better.

Albert likes shoes. In particular, my gym shoes. The stinkier the better.

He waits for me to get down, remove my shoes, and then attacks. He rubs his face against the laces and takes a big ole whiff from inside. Then he sits next to the shoes and naps.

Umm..Ok. I think I'll leave this one alone for now.

Hell Hath No Fury Like A Cat

Don't let the innocent fur face fool you. This one is Evil. I heard the kitty yodeling and felt the head-butting and still I stayed in bed this morning. I just wanted five more minutes of sleep. I didn't realize my cat thought he was starving to death. All of a sudden I hear a splash and the unmistakable sound of the cat food bowl being turned over. The following pictures are not photoshopped. My cat is a magician.

How do you do this? The water bowl was completely empty and balanced ON TOP of the food bowl sitting UNDER the food mat. WHAT?
Also, notice THERE IS FOOD IN THE BOWL. What does this cat want from me?

And of course, there is the drowned, water puffed cat food getting soggier by the second. Might I add that I only had one paper towel left. I just love cleaning water off of the dirty kitchen floor with my bath towel.

I've come to the conclusion that my cats have no idea what their names are and it's all my fault.
These are just a few of the nicknames I call them on a daily basis:

Elly, Elby, bubbas, El-bow, bubbie, Elvira, Elly-belly, Stinky, doody-butt, boo boo-kins, Elbis and Elvis.

Bert, Bertie, Bertie Bear, Bertie Ball, boo boo-bear, Ber-toks, ber-tok-a-moose, Buddy, furball, butt head(he's my problem child), Stop that, quit it, get down, don't do that, ALBERT and Albert...(you see the difference, right? lol)

Update(2/17/10): I love love love all of feedback. It's so funny how many nicknames we have in common(buddy, pookie, butt-head, stop that, etc...) and how many we don't. You guys are seriously creative. I especially love Sasquatch, Hooker, Boobs and Jiggles which totally had me LOL-ing into my coffee and Nermal-nator...*sigh* i heart nermal.

Then there's the ALL CAPS category..Reading through these I might have muttered an Amen and a Halleljah or two, cause boy, don't I understand...

Things that simultaneously mystify, confuse and annoy me about the feline species.

1) It's 5:30 in the morning and in their unrelenting quest for food somehow know the exact place to step in order to squish their sleeping owner's bladder. Annoying.

2) Look but don't touch. Cats invented this I'm sure. Why else would they force themselves into your lap, book, computer keyboard, etc. and then run away as soon as you try to pet them. Mystifying.

3) What, exactly, do they find so captivating about the bedroom ceiling. They both stare and meow in tandem and try as I might, I just don't see it. Confusing (and if I'm totally honest, super creepy. Ghosts anyone?).

These are just a few of the things that I ponder on a daily basis. I'm not the only one, right?

My little knuckle-heads finally agree on something..their pick for this years Super Bowl Winners- The New Orleans Saints!

Me..well I could care less about football, commercials and half-time shows. Why should I? I'm not from New Orleans or wherever the Colts are from. I was ready to tune out my furball's cheers and TV rants until I came upon these...Awesomely awesome Super Bowl Cupcakes. I mean, look how freaking cute these are.

Sidenote: There was a Colt's cupcake but somebody didn't have breakfast this morning and while waiting at a stop light the durn thing found it's way into her hand and then into her mouth and suddenly a cupcake massacre had occured. Nothing left except some vanilla crumbs, a blue icing covered mouth and a complete lack of dignity. Sad.

I spent the weekend "spring cleaning," which included putting the bed back in the bedroom and the couch back in the living room. I set up the bedroom first and then headed into into the main living area to set up the rest of the house. After a couple of hours I wandered into my bedroom and found this disgustingly cutsie wootsie scene.

F.Y.I., Elivs and his rear end were hanging/balancing over the side of the bed for about an hour after I started taking pictures. He obviously practices Pilates while I'm at work.

The core muscle strength it must take to maintain that pose.

I came back from vacation to find my little baby Elvis had gained a pound and a half in muscle(I'm so generous) and 12 pounds of fur. It is getting exceedingly hard to tell him and his brother apart. Their body shapes are practically identical now. It's freaky.

...and Oh Lordy is Elvis a floofster. Thankfully, this is the brother that likes to be picked up and cradled. He's lucky I let him down at all.

How can two cats who look so much alike be so different?

While Elvis bathes and thinks back on the evenings lovely salmon supper....Albert seethes and plots a war.

Poor Elvis never saw it coming.

All of their fights go as follows: Elvis wrestles like a pro from the ground while Albert pounces and body slams from above.

Even though Albert is bigger and stronger than his brother, Elvis is scrappy and a bit of a dirty fighter. He'll use his back paws as if there are ten machetes attatched to his toes, bicycling and slicing through the air. I'd be scared.

Sadly, there is never a winner and one cat ends up mad(Albert) while the other is slightly bloodied(Elvis can't seem to keep his ears out of Albert's mouth) and both are exhausted. Then it's off to the food bowls where both chow down like champs and then off to bed. Ah..brothers.

Your assumption that I selfishly bought myself a pair of sparkly sneakers is totally incorrect.

In fact, my only goal upon entering Macy's yesterday was was to find a beautifully square box for my beloved kitties to lounge in. It's unfortunate that I had to purchase gold glitter All Stars to get that box, but, you know, I'll find something to do with them.

Watching Albert contort his body to fit inside of the box is like watching a furry game of Jenga...Chubby appendages stacked on top of each other...Super cute.

We've grown up a lot this year and I have to say I can't imagine where I'd be without them. I've yet to run into a problem a few head-butts and purrs from the boys can't fix.

Like me, my mother is a friend to all things feline and canine. Growing up we found most of our pets out on the street. When I first saw Tippy the Dog, she had been shot with a BB gun and was wondering around the playground at my elementary school. Mom found out, drove up to school and wrangled our "new pet" into the car. I met Hannah, one of our many cats, as she was hiding in a bush circled by rock throwing little boys. I screamed as only a 10 yr old girl can, picked up the kitten and my Mom came and got us. Claire and Pita, two bob-tailed calicos, were sitting on the sidewalk in a box marked free kittens. Never one to leave an animal, or daughter, behind, my mother packed the kittens and me into the mini-van, and off we went. Max the Cat just showed up one day, as did Bear, Bear II and Gretchen. The point is, we are an animal loving clan.

Hence, my Mother's current situation.
She found Sid when he was about 1 yr old, hiding by the underpass of the freeway. She opened the car door and he jumped in. Smart dude. Cat tally=1

Binx was the next feline invader. My Grandfather found Binx roaming around his ranch way out in the Middle Of Nowhere. They think he came from a property a couple of miles down the road that had caught fire. He was seemingly healthy except for what looked like an old neck injury(his head tilts to one side so he looks constantly perplexed). My granddad was sick at the time and couldn't take care of the cat and because Belou had Feline Leukemia, I couldn't risk keeping him either(we found out later that he had Feline AIDS). Mom took Binx without hesitation. Cat tally=2

Mom was happy with her two babies until fate intervened. My Aunt found a tiny kitten that had some sort of injury to it's back leg. Though the vet said the kitten would live a healthy life, it was also very likely it would be permanently crippled. Aunt Jenni didn't think she would be able to take care of the poor thing. Mom's Cat tally=3.

With the newest addition re-couping at the vet's, off Mom went to PetCo for supplies. Bedding..check. Kitten food..check. Little brother and sister kittens for new kitten to play with..check. WHAT? She said she didn't want this little baby growing up without same age playmates, so in rolled the Twins; Lulubelle and Herbie. (Sid and Binx are each around the three or four year mark and HUGE with muscle. Not appropriate playmates for a special needs kitten.) Cat tally=5. Oy Vey..

Luckily my Aunt fell in love with her little bitty gimpy kitty and decided to keep her and all's well that ends well. Mom's cat tally is back down to 4 and she and her brood are happy.

So here's to Mom and her motley crew of felines; Sid, Binx, Lulubelle and Herbie.

How to give a CAT a pill & How to give a DOG a pill!!

This was a hilarious forward from my friend. Too cute not to share and if you have pets you understand how insanely accurate it is...LOL...Not sure where it came from, but here goes:

How to give a cat a pill:
1. Pick up cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens jaw, gently pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

2. Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.

3.Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.

4. Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm, holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.

5. Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat inside of purse. Call spouse from garden.

6. Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.

7. Retrieve cat from under the dresser, get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.

8. Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw.

9. Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans, drink 1 beer to take taste away. Apply Band-Aid to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.

10. Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Drink beer.. Fetch bottle of scotch. Pour a shot, drink. Apply cold compress to cheek, and check records for date of last tetanus shot. Apply whiskey compress to cheek to disinfect. Toss back another shot. Throw Tee shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

11. Call fire department to retrieve the damn cat from across the road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat. Take last pill from foil wrap.

12. Tie the little sucker's front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table, find heavy-duty pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of filet steak. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and pour 2 pints of water down throat to wash pill down.

13. Consume remainder of scotch. Get spouse to drive you to the emergency room, sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and removes pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.

14. Arrange for RSPCA to collect mutant cat from hell and call local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.

1. Wrap it in bacon.

What cats would look like if they were made of jelly? Well I know. After I spent all of Sunday deep cleaning the apartment and sweeping, vacuming and mopping up every last bit of stray litter, the boys were clearly exhausted. *eye roll*

I went into the bedroom and saw two kitties who were too spent to even acknowledge my existence. Literally!

Albert's head had become one with the carpeted edge of the kitty condo.

At no point during the 10 minutes I spent cooing, poking, taking pictures and tummy rubbing did he open his eyes.

sCATter-Brained Wednesday

Wow-sa! Sorry for all of the non-posting. It's been an amazing summer of playing and friends and mucho kitty canoodling.
The boys are ALMOST a year old and growing up so much. They are settling into their personalities and it is amazing to watch. I just love love, love, love them. Even their BAD habits are kinda cute. Like them chasing each other around the house at 4:30 in the morning, nails screeching and sliding across the floor. Or Elvis ripping a hole in the box spring that only he can fit into and then going coo-coo-crazy racing around inside the innards of my bed, WHILE I'M SLEEPING. Adorable, right?
Plus, there are the toys I am constantly finding in their water bowl, drenched and ruined.

And then sometimes, in the middle of the night of course, those drenched toys find their way out of the bowl and onto Mommy's arm and I wake slightly freaked out because there is what appears to be a dead, wet rat sticking to me.

Ugh...

Even still, bad habits and all, Albert and Elvis are a constant source of amusement in this house and I love them even more for that.

The True Blood 6

I had heard about these kittens earlier in the week and was reminded of them again today on IBKC. Please go and read about these beautiful little guys and their strange but apparently curable affliction. I'm not sure if "inspiring" is the right word for this litter, though that's how I feel. We Dun Like No Stinkin' Spiders

Due to a recent heat induced spider infestation in my bedroom(I found three in my bed, one under my pillow), I have been sleeping on my tiny loveseat in the living room for the past three weeks. The downside is that it is super uncomfortable and there is no room for the boys to cuddle with me at night. Plus, Albert and Elvis spend a majority of their day inside of the bedroom laying in that durn spider bed. I was missing my kitties.
Because I am officially a Big Wuss and I knew I would never sleep peacefully in that room again, I started thinking of other options. The one that made the most sense was moving the bed into the spider free living room and turning the bedroom into a sitting/music/dressing room. Problem solved!!

Notice anything different? I do. There's a couch in the bedroom.This room is not quite done yet, but when it is I think it will be really fun. Albert still has his stool by the window so he is content.

And here is the new living space. Bed acts as a bed and a couch. I love falling asleep to TV and not waking up with a crick in my neck or spiders. Also the light is better out here so I can read a lot longer into the night.

Have I mentioned the kitties yet? No? Well they love it. Elvis is my constant sitting companion. He watches TV with me, snoozes on my arm when I read(when he is not actively shredding said book with his teeth). It is the perfect layout. It gives the home a more studio feel, but that works fine for us. Albert still prefers any window seat as you can tell in the picture above, but at least we're all together.

I am soooo sorry. Internet at home completely went out on me last night. Sooo I brought my camera to work this morning and was downloading the pictures when my camera died. I'm not a jerk I swear. Typically if I give the camera a rest it will give me a little more juice. AHHH. Leave it to me to open my big mouth and have absolutely NOTHING happen. Thank you for not disowning me..yet! Pictures soon I promise.
P.S. I love you guys! You are totally excitable!Unfortunately, I did not adopt a kitten....I didn't want to get your hopes up. No move either, not really I mean. I kind of feel like I might have to dye Albert pink or something just to live up to your expectations! LOL. soon, soon, soon...

Update: Camera will not be charged until I go home which means I can't upload until tomorrow morning. I feel I should mention that this "new change" probably isn't so spectacular in a general sense. More in that it is a new visual perspective in the L-K household. I don't want to downplay the change because the boys and I absolutely love it and it means we spend more time together, however, it's not as cool as adopting another pet, which we 100% plan to do, just not now. Sooo, if that didn't kill the excitement buzz, please stay tuned until tomorrow morning when I PROMISE to post our lovely new pics.

Just wanted to say that Seattle has finally cooled down and the boys are home and loving their new ac. It's been super busy in the Livermore-Knight household what with the birthdays and spider infestations and last but not least, Albert's new mortal enemy, a bag of pork rinds. I will try to post tonight or tomorrow, but for now, I will leave you with these awww inducing baby pics. Ta-ta!

Can YOU sort who's who now? I couldn't tell who the kitty in the second picture was for the life of me this morning. Luckily I figured it out so now Albert and Elvis won't have to publicly disown me.

Hello Everyone! Thank you for all of the well wishes, and very nice to meet you too Poppy Q.

Sigh... the ac did arrive and while it does cool down the apt. enough for me to not have heat stroke(barely) it is still too hot for the boys.

The babies started panting yesterday and Albert started throwing up. I about lost my S!@* and rushed them to the clinic where the amazing vet techs helped me wrap them in ice packs tp cool them down. The change was instant. When the vet finally took a look at them, Al's temperature was back down to normal and El's was only a couple of degrees higher, 103 when it should be 101-ish. Thankfully there was room at the inn and I was able to leave them there in the ac with two cages that open into each other so they could be together.

I miss them sooo much. With the temperature reaching the HIGHEST it has ever been in Seattle, I think I will leave the boys there for a couple more days yet. The vet techs there are the best you could ask for and when I called to check in on them this morning, they were already in the room with Al and El listening to them chat away. Apparently they play the who's who game and try to figure out ways to tell the boys apart. I can't wait to go visit with them tomorrow and let them know that I didn't forget about them and to give them hugs.
