"Oh Waiter..."

The Boys (after finishing their breakfast): "But we're still hungry. Please put more food in the bowl."
Mom: "No way kiddos. Thanks to your loyal blog readers I now know that I should be reading the back of the kitty chow bag for portion size, and let me tell you, you boys eat way too much. No more food this morning."

Albert: "But why would they say such mean things? Do they want us to STARVE?"

Elvis: "Can't you see that our bowls are empty..."

Elvis: "...and we are so cute. Don't you love us anymore?"
Mom: (sigh) You won't starve, yes I love you and you're not eating again until dinner. Now, go play."

Albert: (mocking mom's voice) "No more food, go play." Well I hope she didn't like this chair. I'm about to play with it's innards. scratch...claw...rip

Haha! You tell her, Albert and Elvis! The expressions on their faces are just precious and I've seen it so many times before (on Q's face). I know that I'm going to see that expression on 9 and Chani too!

I don't know what you feed the boys, but I switched from dry food to predominantly wet food because I've been told not only does dry food add excess weight to the cat, but it's also bad for male cats who tend to develop feline urinary tract problems easier than females. So now they get a tiny sprinkle of dry after they eat the wet. Also, stay away from tuna, for health reasons.

As hard as it may seem right now, in about 3 weeks (ha,ha, more like 10 days), they will adjust. Until then make sure ALL your food is locked up. When we switched from free grazing dry to canned (Gwen was diabetic) we had 10 days of hell. Yowling, peeing, ripping up stuff and general being ignored.
Good luck.

Oh these poor starving boys! How are they going to survive until dinnertime? Amazing how kitties always manage to act like they're being starved to death, even if it's immediately after they've had a huge meal :)

Oh My...those two fellas are certainly going to be cranky for a while...my two think every time I stand up they should be fed...

I grow kitty grass for mine and it's a good treat to make them forget about chow for a minute or two...

I can also attest that you are doing the right thing. In fact, I gave my kittens the max portions (but no more) on the IAMS bag label their first year, and they still got fat. I had to switch them to wet food (recommended by my vet) before they lost all the weight.

They'll be cute no matter how much they eat, though!

They are so funny! And your comments always make things even funnier :)

My four monsters here are on 100% wet food, and I have to say they are MUCH more satisfied than back when I adopted them and they were on dry food.

Like it's been mentioned, they can eat more, it has way more moisture, and less carbs. Maybe give it a try on the boys, see if they would take to it?

If you choose to go over to wet food, make sure you get a good brand. Some of the grocery store cheap ones are full of by-products. Ask at you local pet store. I use Petguard and Wellness, but there are others that don't have byproducts. One good side effect - cat's coats get much more shiny with good food. I save the dry food for a little dessert.

Interesting! Our girls were having only canned food, and had a dental problem. They're now on dry food, extra nutritious and BIG kibbles, that clean their teeth while they eat. But - well, OK, I admit it - they each get 1/8 of a can of canned food marning and evening, because they're spoiled so rotten I imagine you can smell 'em from there if the wind's right. (They're my precious babies, my pampered daughters of Bast. Sue me.) {heh}
