Holy Crud! I forgot to defrost the Turkey!

HaHa. Chill-ax little cat. I was just kidding.

Kitty says, "But Mo-om,"

"We don't want stinky ol' cat food. We want TURKEY!"

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

Kitty says, " How about today? Can we have turkey today?"

"Cause I'm warning you. If I don't get some bird soon, Auntie Gan here, is not going to like the consequences."

Monday, November 24, 2008

Kitty says, "Turkey now, please."

Is it possible to have a "case of the Mondays" when you only have a three day work week?

Hello.

My name is Albert Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!

Camel and Albert dove expectantly towards one another. "To the death," Camel said, advancing.
Albert gave a soft shake of his head. "No," he corrected. "To the pain."
It was an odd phrase, and for the moment it brought Camel up short. "I don’t think I quite understand that."
"I’m going to tell you something once and then whether you die is strictly up to you," Albert said, precariously balanced on his hind legs. "What I’m going to tell you is this: bow down to me, and if you do, then I will leave you alone, embroidered disco mirrors intact, and you will be tied up but not fatally, and will be free to go about your business. And if you choose to fight, well, then, we will not both leave alive."
Camel answered,"You are only alive now because you said 'to the pain.' I want that phrase explained."
"My pleasure." said Albert. "To the pain means this: if we duel and you win, death for me. If we duel and I win, life for you. But life on my terms..."

"The first thing you lose will be your feet. Below the ankle. You will have stumps available to use within six months. Then your hands, at the wrists. They heal somewhat quicker. Five months is a fair average...
"Next, your eyes. The sight of the desert dunes will forever be a distant memory for you.."

"And then your nose...
"And then my tongue and then my ears, and shall we get on with it?" Camel said.
"Wrong!" Albert’s voice rang across the room. "Your ears you keep, so that every shriek of every child shall be yours to cherish—every babe that weeps in fear at your approach, every woman that cries 'Dear God, what is that thing?' will reverberate forever with your perfect ears. That is what 'to the pain' means. It means that I leave you in anguish, in humiliation, in freakish misery until you can stand it no more; so there you have it, pig...um, camel, you miserable vomitous mass, and I say this now, and live or die, it’s up to you: Will You Bow Down?"

"... "

Albert Inigo Montoya, victorious once again.

Sun Baby

Pretty Albert rockin' his baby Blue Steel pose.

I love little kitty teeth. When they're relaxed and their mouths are slightly open, it's all I can do to keep from sticking my finger in there. Unless they're making stinky face. That's totally different.

Such a sweet little profile.

We're Ba-ack!

Thank you tech guy for getting us back up and running. We're faster now and ready to go.

So, because the boys have gotten sooo big in the past couple of weeks, I was thinking of doing some before and afters. It's really quite dramatic. Albert is growing into his face and Elvis is growing into his ears(sniff sniff). Their bodies are longer and stronger and less frail than before. Predictions are funny and never quite accurate, but IF I were to make a prediction, it would be: Elvis was going to be the big, long, lanky fellow and Albert would be the chubby cuddler. Not chubby fat or unhealthy, but chubby, "Isn't he so cute, he never lost his baby fat" chubby. Both are running and playing constantly, Albert just seems to have been made a little more compact. It's perfect, really, because he fits into any nook, curled into a ball, while Elvis tends to sprawl in all directions. What a dreamy duo. Before and afters tomorrow, hope these pics do for today.

Albert is the proud owner of spots AND stripes.

Where's Waldo... I mean Elvis?

Technical Difficulties..

I knew the day would come once I started blogging, that some tech-type issue would arise and I would be absolutely clueless as to how to fix it. Currently, the dvd-cd drive is down so I have no way to download ALL of the cute new pictures of the kitties. And I mean really cute. Let's just say one series involves Albert riding a camel.
Anywho, so much has been going on. I never realized how quick the two would grow. Other than size, the major "Oh My Gosh" moments are coming with their fur. Albert and Elvis are molting. They are getting their big boy fur which includes tons of manly stripes. It is more noticeable on Elvis right now, but Al's catching up. There is lots more to tell, but I'll wait until i get my pics downloaded, which should be tomorrow or the next day. Much love from the kitties.

Hell-Cats

The boys are spending the day at their Aunt Gannon's house due to some maintenance on ours. They are suprisingly adaptable kitties and made the transition quite nicely. For fun(eye roll), we child proofed the room where they are staying before we left, which meant:
1) unplugging all lamps that could be knocked over,
2) taking pictures down from the window sill that could be knocked over,
3) tying the curtains up so they couldn't be pulled down,
4) you get the jist...
If you can't tell already, these two are turning into quite the little trouble makers and I'm grateful that Gannon, knowing all of this, was still excited to have them over for the day. So, from me, Albert and Elvis, Thanks Auntie Gannon!

bodhi

Albert embraces his spiritual awakening at the hands of my Buddha-like scented candle holder.

He tries to convince me he's grown spiritually and he's not the same demon kitty who tried to bite my ear off at 3a.m. this morning.

Hobbes?

My grandmother was a librarian and every year on my birthday, Christmas, etc., she would give me books. One year she gave me a couple of volumes of Calvin and Hobbes and I was hooked. It was witty, funny and Hobbes was the perfect mix of tiger and kitten. Sometimes, when Elvis sleeps on his back(or divebombs my toes from under the couch) I am instantly reminded of Calvin's friend Hobbes. Cuddly, yet slightly predatory. Make no mistake, I've snuggled that furry kitty belly when he was fast asleep only to have him wake up, baby claws tangled in my hair. Was it worth it?

Band-aids: $3.15

Nail Clippers: $1.99

3 seconds of uninterrupted kitty belly snorgling: Priceless

What the heck,

This one's my absolute favorite!

The Constant Yawner

Sleepy Albert on the verge of waking up.

Yawn #1
Yawn #2-seriously, there were two more yawns somewhere in the mix, but I was giggling so hard I missed the photo ops.

It's exhausting being a cat!

Rainy Days...

Warm sheets and cloudy skies. I didn't want to get out of bed this morning. Lucky cats.

The Boys and Their Toys

The ball was a gift from their foster mom Laurie. I love this toy because it is one of the few they own that is completely silent. No bells, squeaks or other unnecessary noise.

These rabbit fur rats were a welcome home gift from their Aunt Gannon. These are undoubtedly their FAVORITE toys in the whole wide world. I hate them. A lot. For hours they smack, pounce, push and drag these things around the house. It gets so bad I have to pick ALL 16 of them up at night just so I can get some sleep. Thanks Gan.

Angelic Albert

Professor Albert. Albee. Albert the adventurous. Perch. My little Alien. This kitty is the sweetest of the sweet. His main goal in life is to be where the love is. Underfoot or on my shoulder, he follows my every move. He loves racing down empty hallways and hiding his brothers toys.
Though he loves to play, snuggling is his favorite pastime. If Elvis is the lion of the two, Albert is the alligator. Once cradled on his back, he's out. He's the first one to climb into bed if he thinks I'm taking a nap and the last one to wake up. If the sheets are warm, there's a good chance he's cocooned somewhere in the middle. Albert is unbearably adorable and I'm grateful he's mine.

Boosters for the Boys

Yesterday was a big day for the kitties. The boys had their first visit with their forever vets at The Cat Clinic of Seattle. It was a little sad for me as the last time I was there, 8 months ago, I was putting my other cat, Belou, to rest. The doctors and staff were amazing throughout Belou's illness and I knew if I ever adopted again, these are the people I would trust.
So, Albert and Elvis. Both have gained over half a pound in the past week(which the vet said was normal) and are doing well. Health wise, these boys are A-OK. Socially, well, these little guys are just so timid. Cough(eye roll). Honestly, I couldn't keep them in their carrier long enough to fill out the paper work. They just HAD to play with the perma-kitties who live and run around in the waiting room. Thanks to Laurie at IBKC for raising such well adjusted little stinkers!
All of the nurses were eager to meet Albert and Elvis, and of course, instantly fell in love.
But, I mean really, how could you not?

If you've never met...

This is Elvis. Bigger than Albert, he's a rambunctious, wily, in your face kind of fellow. He likes his litter box clean and has no problem walking in on his brother if he feels the cover-up is not being properly executed(much to Albert's dismay). He's timid when faced with new situations, though not for long. Elvis has purr-fected the fine art of appendage stalking and can amuse himself for hours chasing his own tail in circles. Reminiscent of a baby lion, this one's a keeper. Long live the King!

Oh boys.

My babies are on their way to world wide domination. Thanks for mention at Cute Overload!!!

Introducing..

One pair of matching bookends,
Different as night and day...
Where Albert adores a sunny nap,
Sleeping in, his belly scratched,
Our Elvis loves to jump and roll,
Some catnip makes him lose control,
What a wild duet!
Still they're brothers,
Identical brothers and you'll find,
They meow alike, they walk alike,
At times they even purr alike —
You can lose your mind,
When brothers are two of a kind.

Meet Albert and Elvis. Former IBKC kitties, these two are bursting at the seams with love and affection. Such cuteness must be shared. More stories and pics to come. Now, if they would only hold still...
